Founded 1964 · Blue Badge and Green Badge guides

A thousand years of St Albans, on foot.

The City and District of St Albans Tour Guides Association leads guided walks through the old city, the Roman town of Verulamium and the villages around it — most weekends of the year, whatever the weather.

Walks are £10 per person and must be booked in advance. Children aged 11 and under come free with an adult, except on our ghost walks.

Private walks and talks

Groups, schools and illustrated talks

As well as our public programme, we cater for pre-booked private groups — local schoolchildren, overseas academics, staff outings and U3A history groups — and we bring PowerPoint illustrated talks to your own venue.

  • Any walk, any date

Groups can choose from the full public programme or from walks we offer to private groups only. The minimum charge is £80 for up to 8 people, £10 for each additional person.

  • City and Cathedral together

A joint 90-minute tour with the Cathedral Guides — 45 minutes in the city, 45 in the Cathedral. £15 per head, minimum £150 for up to 10 people.

  • Schools and families

Walks aimed at key stages 2 and 3, adaptable for older pupils, plus lighter walks for families with young children.
